I failed quite miserably in my attempt to capture the feel of a street lamp on Tuesday night. The photo turned out to have a bit of a film noir feel to it, so my disappointment is limited.

This was an entirely boring picture of a hot plate we use at work. I cranked up the contrast, the brightness, and the black clipping, really just got the picture as grungy looking as I could. I'm quite pleased with the results actually, which is really saying something given how underwhelmed I was with the subject.

A few days in California

As I mentioned with my last batch of daily photos, I was in California for a conference last week. Of the time I managed to spend taking pictures I got quite a few "keepers" (by my standard at any rate). Since most of these are quite snapshot-ish, touristy, photos I'll present them without much comment except to say that even when travelling I manage to take pictures of churches. Also, I highly recommend getting a burger and a beer at Alcatraz Brewing Co. if you have the chance.

The weather in Edmonton has been pretty interesting since I got back. I thought the clouds on Sunday evening were interesting enough to take a picture even though traffic was in my way.
